2020-2021
Classes Begin Monday, October 5th
Classes will meet Monday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 PM following the Fairfield Public Schools calendar.
Dear CCD Parents,
As the academic year has begun for the Fairfield Public Schools, we look forward to your child’s learning about our Faith in the CCD/Religious Education program here at Holy Cross Parish with some changes. Please know that we are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of every child and Catechist involved in the program against contagion of the COVID-19 Virus. As this pandemic has affected every aspect of our life, please note that we have made some necessary changes to the program from last year.
REGISTRATION WILL BE CONDUCTED ON Monday, September 21st, 2020 between 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the parish hall.
Please print a copy of the registration form, fill it out, and bring it with you for MANDATORY in person registration along with 2 items:
1) A copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate - unless your child was registered last year;
2) Payment in full
Mandatory in person registration will be conducted on Monday, September 21st between 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the parish hall. At this time, books and an approved Catholic Bible will be issued to the parent.
As a safety protocol, we ask that a parent come alone in person wearing a face mask without the child.
CLASSES:
Classes will begin on Monday, October 5th. As a safety protocol, please ask your child/ children to wash their hands at home before coming to class. Your child MUST WEAR A FACE MASK, as they enter the building, their hands will be sprayed with a hand sanitizer, and they should go directly to join with the Catechist.
As classes are smaller this year, we will not be making use of classroom at SCA, rather make use of gym, hall, and partition spaces. Each child will be social distanced at a 6’ distance from another child or Catechist.
HYBRID CLASS OPTION:
Home school is an option, having parents teach their children from books for 2 class periods, have the child come to class with the Catechist on the 4th week for a review of class material and a test. This would require parent involvement (an ideal opportunity for parents to review their own knowledge of the Faith and Prayers) and spend time with your child as the “First Teacher in the ways of the Faith” – a vow parents took at the child’s Baptism.
If you have any concerns or questions, please call the parish office Tuesday – Friday, from 10:30 – 3:00 pm.
Blessing you in Christ, Our G_D
Fr. Pečarič, STL/Pastor
